Guys it was absolutely fine. No delays at all, watching the thunderstorm from my balcony as we speak, can even still see the trains coming to and from over at the station and this rain is biblical.

Guess lesson learned is to not freak out too much, things will be fine.

tomorrow and friday warnings are kind of scary. Theey are real red warnings from the italian civilian protection service and not some made up ones by weather apps like last week. The remant of an hurricane are arriving and going to collide with saharian high pressure zone that we have now in italy.

I was planning to go to lake garda, but I would not. And for sure I won't like to be in an area subjected to easy flooding like Genova. I see the  impact should arrive around 5PM. I would not travel after that time.

Red weather alert is no joke. I would avoid moving around tomorrow unless really necessary. I imagine your flight is more at risk than your train… I‘d be surprised if it’s not cancelled tbh, at an airport like Genova‘s

The worst that may happen to your flight is to be diverted to Pisa or Turin, however I would not travel in a severe weather alert though. It may also end up just fine, but it's too risky IMHO
By the way, is it really going to be a red alert? I'm seeing amber alert on allertaliguria

There might be train delays, mountains go directly jnto the sea in this area so it's alwsys very affected by rain and thunderstorm, last week it rained a whole lot and there was an orange weather alert, be careful

I’m in southern Tuscany right now and the wind is blowing hard  ever since 10pm last night. The entire coastline/area is under a high wind advisory. If you look at a weather/wind map you’ll see powerful Scirocco winds heading right up the western coastline smack in Genoa. 

Your flight might be cancelled or diverted but the train should be OK unless something happens with the tracks. I doubt it though but I may be wrong.

a) Subtropical weather is typically harder to predict vs temperate

b) Despite that, at least in Pune , MH and Mumbai, we do get reasonably advance warning of inclement weather. e.g. we received adequately  upfront yellow/ alerts for this week’s unexpected heavy rains in Pune . 

Not sure why Delhi should be any different

**India Meteorological Department** (IMD) is the main **GOVERNMENT AGENCY** that predicts the weather. Nothing like Global Standard, aging models and equipment with their inaccuracy of predictions.

They always put it out. You must be living in a cave to not heard about them. We have 2-3 days, a week and even month predictions. Watch weather news and reports.

Ohh if they have issued a warning for 5 days not more than 1-2 days of rain can be expected. IMD usually takes blanket approval and then sun shines out in the warning days.

Most of the big cities in India have poor plumbing / drainage or NO drainage at all including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedbad, etc 

Here after 1 hour of rains the entire area gets flooded and it mixes with all the sewage too
